Lamps admits form fears

Chelsea and England midfielder Frank Lampard has admitted that he was worried about his form after struggling to make an impact at the World Cup finals in Germany.

Lampard came in for heavy criticism after not showing his best for his country and the 28-year-old now accepts that he was worried for a time.

He said: "You can't have the attitude where you think everyone is against you. It's part of being a player.

"At times it plays on your mind though. As footballers, we don't walk home with our eyes shut, we all understand the situation and there are days when you may be inclined to think more negatively about it.

"But the only way to react is to be positive about it, you have to tell yourself that it's part of being a footballer.

"I could hide away. I could have hidden away in the World Cup and not at least try to get forward and score goals.

"But I didn't do that and that's the attitude I'll continue to have. It's all about coming out of it stronger."
