Chelsea never comment on speculation. But if they become true, then it would amount to the greatest climbdown by the Russian during his tenue as owner of the Blues.
Lampard, 34, has let his form do the talking, smashing in goals for club and country and now it appears, Abramovich has seen what every right-minded football fan has seen and that is Lampard deserved respect and a new deal.
