Lamps targets Euro glory

Frank Lampard is determined to finally capture the UEFA Champions League trophy that has so agonisingly eluded Chelsea in recent seasons. The Blues made it to the final of the competition in 2007/8 but lost out to Premier League rivals Manchester United in Moscow on penalties. They looked set to reach the final again last term before Andres Iniesta's last-gasp strike sealed victory for Barcelona on the away goals rule. The match will be remembered for the ugly scenes at the final whistle when an angry Didier Drogba confronted the referee over a series of penalties that were not awarded. "I don't know if Barcelona was worse than Moscow or not but to me they are both right up there because of the circumstances involved," Lampard recalled in the News of the World. "Both were so hard on us, so cruel. To lose out in that semi-final against Barcelona in the manner that we did was certainly tough to take." "Obviously it would be a great achievement to go all across the board in terms of titles and lifting the Champions League trophy is the big European one," he commented. "Yes, it is disappointing every year when it doesn't happen. Clearly we want to win it one day so every year when it comes around we put everything into trying to win it."
