Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has spoken of the atmosphere of fear that exists at Stamford Bridge as manager Jose Mourinho attempts to prevent complacency from creeping into Blues' performances.
The 28-year-old has managed to maintain his place since the Portuguese manager arrived at the club two years ago.
But even the England international admits that a below-par performance could result in a spell on the sidelines such is the competition for places among the squad.
"At Chelsea you always understand that you can lose your place," he revealed.
"Everyone who knows me knows I want to play week-in, week-out, but I'm not silly enough to think it won't ever happen.
"I understand that if my levels drop, it's a real possibility.
"There has always been a lot of competition. It's the nature of being at Chelsea. Your place will never be set in stone."
