    Lampard: Let's win for Guus

    24 May 2009 - 11:59:14

Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard is hoping to send departing manager Guus Hiddink off with a farewell FA Cup Final winners' medal.

Hiddink will end his brief tenure at Stamford Bridge with next weekend's Wembley showdown against Everton and Lampard wants to ensure the Dutch coach departs a winner.

Hiddink, who will return to his full-time role as head coach of the Russia national team, guided the Blues to the semi-finals of the Champions League and a likely third-place finish in the Premier League.

"A season without silverware is seen as a failure and that's pretty well right, if you look at the quality of the squad here," said Lampard.

"We'd love to leave him (Hiddink) with a trophy as a thank you.

"We all feel the same about that. We've been a very tight-knit group since he came in.

"The man has been a pleasure, not just as a manager but as a person."

Meanwhile, Lampard believes whoever the club selects to replace Hiddink will benefit from a determination within the squad.

AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti is the frontrunner to take the reins at Stamford Bridge.

Lampard added: "There will be continuity here whatever happens, I hope.

"It's important that players get the hump United won the league and that we're not in the Champions League Final and make sure we put it right.

"Whatever decision the owner makes, let's hope it works. If it doesn't, the club are within their rights to make it work."
