Lampard - We deserved it

Frank Lampard insisted Chelsea deserved to lift the FA Cup after his second-half strike secured a 2-1 success over Everton. Louis Saha stunned the Stamford Bridge side as he fired underdogs Everton ahead after just 25 seconds - the fastest goal in the history of the FA Cup final. Chelsea responded strongly and were level through Didier Drogba's powerful header before the break in the blazing Wembley sunshine. And Lampard then secured glory for departing coach Guus Hiddink as his left-foot effort flew beyond Tim Howard, who got his fingers to the ball but could not keep it out. The England midfielder said: "It is very special. Personally it is great to score the winning goal and it will probably sink in a bit later. "But as a group and a team, we deserved it today. Take nothing away from Everton, they did exceptionally well to get to Wembley. "But after the season we've had, the hard work we've put in and how close we got to the Champions League final, it was very important for us to win." Lampard admitted Chelsea were taken aback by Everton's stunning start and was delighted to play his part in the comeback with a goal he ranks among the best of his career. He said: "It was a sloppy start. We give away the quickest goal ever and so that was something we had to respond to. "We are very strong mentally and believe in ourselves and once they scored we started to play and knock the ball around. "My goal is right up there," added Lampard. "As a player you want to score big goals and the big ones stick in your and this is right up there."
