Knifeman targets Jose Mourinho at Spanish airport

Real Madrid fear Jose Mourinho may have been targeted by a crazed knifeman after one of the former Chelsea manager's bodyguards was stabbed protecting him last Friday in La Coruna, northern Spain. The club revealed last night that one of their security team received a four centimetre wound from a sharp object as he shepherded Mourinho through crowds at A Coruna Airport. The coach was only told about the incident yesterday and Real are awaiting the results of a police investigation. Targeted: Mourinho wasn't injured in the attack as he moved through the crowded airport in Spain CCTV footage is being studied and Madrid are considering having the team bussed to away grounds direct from the runway instead of having to travel via arrivals lounges. Real have a match in Santander tomorrow and the club are planning to step up security around their highprofile coach. A plot to kidnap Mourinho came to light while he was Inter Milan coach when Italian police seized four members of a gang who had photos of him and his family leaving their home in Como, Italy. On the playing front, Madrid suffered a blow in their pursuit of the Champions League and of Barcelona at the top of La Liga with the news that Cristiano Ronaldo will miss the next fortnight because of injury. The 26-year-old damaged his hamstring in Thursday night's 7-0 win over Malaga, in which he scored a hat-trick to take his goal tally for the season to 37. He has appeared in every league game this season, with his goals helping Real retain a semblance of hope of bridging the seven-point gap between themselves and Barca. But he looks set to miss tomorrow's game against Santander and the subsequent meeting with Hercules, as well as the second leg of the Champions League tie against Lyon, which is level at 1-1 after the first game in France.  Ronaldo a major injury doubt for Champions League clash with LyonGame in Spain: Mourinho mayhem at Madrid more exciting than title raceChelsea and Man City monitor Kaka as Madrid prepare to offload ?58m starAll the latest Chelsea news, features and opinion  Explore more:People: Cristiano Ronaldo, Jose Mourinho Places: Madrid, Lyon, Barcelona, Spain, France, Italy
