Andriy Shevchenko is ready to sit out the final year of his Chelsea contract before considering a player-coach role at his first love, Dynamo Kiev. The Ukraine giants had hoped to lure the 32-year-old this summer but admit they cannot match his lucrative Stamford Bridge contract. Roma and teams in the Middle East have also shown interest in the former AC Milan player, but Shevchenko said:'You know very well what Dynamo Kiev mean to me, you know my relationship with the president, that I love the Ukraine and Kiev, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. 'I have a year left on my contract and I want to complete it. And then? No one knows what's going to happen.' Kiev president Igor Surkis was planning to talk to Shevchenko on international duty and said: 'He needs to decide what he wants. 'I won't coerce him. He would lose out financially because our team could not match his contract.' Surkis sees Shevchenko as having the ability to emulate Pep Guardiola, who grew from being a Barcelona captain to a hugely successful coach in his first year in charge last season.
