    Kenyon calm on Blues pair

    24 Feb 2008 - 12:17:07

Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon has reiterated his desire to keep Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba at Stamford Bridge.

Lampard's future has been open to speculation as the England midfielder has just over 12 months remaining on his existing deal.

The 29-year-old failed to agree terms on a new contract earlier in the season, but has pledged to sit down again with club officials in the summer.

Meanwhile, Ivory Coast striker Drogba has continued to be linked with a summer departure after revealing his unhappiness at the departure of former coach Jose Mourinho back in September.

"Frank has made the comments that he wants to stay. We've both decided we'll put it behind us until the end of the season," Kenyon told BBC Radio Five Live's Sportsweek programme.

"He's still got a year left on his contract. He is a great player by anybody's standards and of course we would like him to see his career out with us.

"Didier has come out and said that he was misquoted and we're not going to talk about that.

"Didier has got two years left on his contract and there is no reason why he shouldn't remain a Chelsea player."

Elsewhere, Chelsea manager Avram Grant has revealed he would like to appoint a director of football to ease the burden on his shoulders.

Grant previously filled a similar role at former club Portsmouth.

"It would be easier for me," he told The People.

"There are many things for a coach to do. The director can help him a lot. I know that from my time in that position at Portsmouth."
