Kazakhstan v England: Fabio Capello refutes Carlo Ancelotti's 'surly' jibe
Ancelotti, in his biography, felt the England coach "did not have dialogue with his players" when at the helm in the San Siro.
But Capello is adamant he had a good relationship with the majority of his players as he prepapres his squad for their World Cup qualifier with Kazakhstan.
The former Real Madrid manager said: "I don't recognise myself in this description. (by Ancelotti). Sometimes I fight with one player, not a lot, one. I usually speak with the players.
"I never went to dinner with the players, I never went to dinner with the journalists. I'd prefer to go with my wife or friends of mine.
"The rules of the club are I am a manager, the others are players. I respect the players and I ask respect. That is all it is. Not more than that.
"If you want to be a friend of the players, you can choose. It is a different style."
Theo Walcott is expected to make his first England appearance for eight months in Almaty after his shoulder problem.
And Capello has every confidence he will be fresh enough to handle the World Cup qualifiers with Kazakhstan and Andorra next Wednesday at Wembley plus the European Under-21
Championships after his lengthy lay-off.
"Theo didn't play for four months. I don't think playing for the Under-21s will be a problem for him," Capello said. "Four months without a game is like a big holiday - and it will be no problem for him.
"I know the managers at the start of next season want all the players in the same situation but now also some players will play in the Confederation Cup, some in South America in World Cup qualifiers."
Arsene Wenger believes Walcott could eventually end up as an out and out striker.
Capello said: "I have seen Theo play some games as the second forward. He is young and if Arsene will play him as the second forward, then fine. He can also play here on the right wing. It is another option for me."
The Italian is aware of the importance of the next two qualifiers with back to back wins virtually ensuring qualification for the 2010 finals in South Africa.
He said: "I want to play these next two games very fast because this is, for me, the biggest steps towards going to South Africa.
"These two games are very important. People think it is an easy
game on Saturday. It will not be an easy game. I hope tomorrow the players will play with confidence, like a group, like in all the games."
"People say the pitch is poor but, if the pitch is not good, it is not an excuse. You have to play. It is the same for England and Kazakhstan."
