Penalty win knocked wind out of Blackpool Carlo Ancelotti said after his charges won 1-3 at Bloomfield Road tonight. "It was a good performance and an important result. Salomon Kalou helped us a lot and played very well. Fernando Torres and Didier Drogba played well overall, they were dangerous and I think they played a good game." Mentioning Kalou suggests that the penalty the Ivory Coast striker won was crucial in the victory. John Terry had already put the Blues into a 0-1 lead but when Ian Evatt upended Kalou, Lampard disptached the spot kick with consumate ease. Blackpool boss Ian Holloway, said: "I have seen the penalty incident about four or five times. I think my player is a tad naive but the minute my player tried to make a challenge Kalou could not wait to go over. I don't think referee Mike Dean was given any choice really." Lampard tucked away his second before Jason Puncheon got a late consolation goal for the home side. Chelsea are now nine points adrift of leaders Manchester United who have played a game more. Chelsea have also to play them at Old Trafford. More realistically, Chelsea have their sights on United's rivals City who are two points ahead of the Londoners and have also played a game more. Chelsea entertain City at the Bridge later this month on the 20th. What do you think Chelsea can achieve in the league this season? Have your say in the messageboard now.
