Juventus v Chelsea: Man marking

11 March 2009 08:52
Petr Cech:Erratic in the first half, like most of his team-mates, but his second half performance was impressive with telling saves from David Trezeguet and Alessandro Del Piero. 7 [LNB]Jose Bosingwa:The right-back produced one his better performances, overlapping at times with good effect, while also producing some timely interventions when required. 7 [LNB] Related ArticlesHiddink in plea for cameras[LNB]Juventus 2 Chelsea 2: Agg: 2-3[LNB]Drogba stops sulking - and scores[LNB]Top 10: European coaches[LNB]Chelsea v Juventus: Man marking[LNB]Chelsea: How the players rated[LNB]John Terry:Solid and dependable as ever though he will be disappointed that Chelsea conceded two goals for the first time since early February, at Liverpool. 7 [LNB]Alex:Not at his best and the Brazilian, replaced on the night by Ricardo Carvalho, will be aware that the Portuguese international is ready to return at the back in his place. 6 [LNB]Ashley Cole:With Chelsea effectively playing without a left-sided midfielder for much of the game, Cole had a busy night, but with Juventus committed to attack, he had little time to assist the forwards. 6 [LNB]John Mikel Obi:Played in his usual role just in front of the back four but was not always convincing, particularly in a first half generally dominated by Juventus. 6 [LNB]Michael Essien:Given he has been out for six months, Essie should be satisfied with his contribution, particularly the important goal. He lasted just over an hour and showed glimpses of what Chelsea have been missing. 6 [LNB]Michael Ballack:Strong and authoritive in midfield, the German was involved in the build up for the second goal. AS the season progresses so Ballack is becoming more influential. 7 [LNB]Frank Lampard:Probing and intelligent at times, especially in the second half. It was his shot, parried onto the cross-bar, that eld to Essien's goal. 7 [LNB]Didier Drogba:Another outstanding contribution from a man whose form has been transformed since the arrival of Guus Hiddink. Was denied a goal in the first half, when the ball clearly crossed the line, then netted his fourth in five games. 8 [LNB]Nicolas Anelka:Another player back from injury and therefore offering much on his return. Sometimes he pushed wide on the left, and, as Hiddink rightly noted, he produced an intelligent performance. 7 [LNB]SUBSTITUTES:[LNB]Carvalho (6) for Alex. [LNB]Belletti (7) for Essien. [LNB]Not used: Hilario (g), Malouda, Deco, Kalou, Mancienne. [LNB]
