Juan Cuadrado transfer could go the wire

The big transfer of the January window looks like it could go the wire according to reports in the Independent and elsewhere with many complications it seems getting in the way of a timely deal. Chelsea are relying on the Schurrle to Wolfsburg money to finance their bid for Cuadrado as well as sending Mohamed Salah the other way on loan but these conditions of the move have their own issues.

It is reported that Mohamed Salah is having problems getting an Italian work permit and Wolfsburg sporting director claims there are outstanding issues with Schurrle:

There is no agreement at the moment," sporting director Klaus Allofs told Wolfsburger Nachrichten. "The clock is running out. Our options are getting less hour by hour. It depends on money. We still would like to sign him."

Cuadrado is expected to be the only Blues signing today but they may wish to revisit other options should the many spanner’s in the works for this deal prove fatal. Mourinho has been reported to be interested in Douglas Costa and possibly Enner Valencia but ultimately the Schurrle deal would need to go through for any transfer to happen.

A £27m fee is the figure widely reported as being required to secure Cuadrado whilst around £23m is needed to make the World Cup winner, Andre Schurrle a Wolfsburg player. In addition Mohamed Salah will go to Fiorentina on loan.
