Jovanovic stays positive

APOEL Nicosia coach Ivan Jovanovic believes his side are capable of an upset against Chelsea in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night. The Cypriots proved they will be no pushovers in the competition after holding Atletico Madrid to a goalless stalemate in their opening Group D clash. While Jovanovic knows Chelsea are strong favourites for the clash in the GSP Stadium, he is still hopeful of a positive result against Carlo Ancelotti's side. He said: "Chelsea are the best team in the group, one of the top three or four teams in the world, and they have a real chance of winning this trophy. "They have an excellent coach who has already won the Champions League and, for sure, they are the favourites in tomorrow's game. Start well "We have to start the game well and try our best to play our own game, always hoping for a good result. "We'll have to exceed ourselves to achieve that, but we have done it already many times before. "We'll try to do it again tomorrow. It's not made easier by the fact that we have four players missing, two defenders and two attackers, but we have to show we can cope without them and still challenge Chelsea. "Chelsea have a much better team than ours, that's clear. They are an extremely attacking team and an excellent unit. "But they're also a team that can defend well together and play well. They have star players, but the team as a whole is a star. "But one of the strengths of our team is that we are excited to be playing in games like this." Morais hopes APOEL defender Nuno Morais faces his former team-mates after a low-key stint under Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge, which saw him never win a medal, despite the Blues lifting the FA Cup, Carling Cup and Premier League twice. He said: "It'll be a different experience for me playing against my former club, but we must treat it as just another game as much as we can. "It'll be one more game. I will do my best for the team. I want to prove something to them, of course. If we can show our quality in the Champions League, maybe it will open doors for some of our players. "I enjoyed my time there but I don't have any medals from those days. "I played some games in the Premier League but, in England, they only give you medals if you play a certain number of games. I did not qualify for a medal."
