Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon has told the Football Association that any approach to make Jose Mourinho the next England manager would be a waste of time.
After enjoying great success with both FC Porto and Chelsea, Mourinho would undoubtedly be near the top of the FA's list of possible replacements for the departing Sven-Goran Eriksson if he were available.
Kenyon, however, was keen to let everyone know the Portuguese is not a contender for the England job, despite speculation suggesting otherwise.
"He's made it quite clear he's not interested, and we would make it quite clear we are not interested in letting him go," he told BBC Radio 5's Sportsweek programme.
"He likes Chelsea, he and his family like London, and he is very happy with what we are planning to do.
"We think he will be here to fulfil the plans we have all put in place together.
"He's another six years left on his contract, and we would like him to stay longer that that."
Kenyon also confirmed that Mourinho had no plans to add to his squad before the transfer window closes.
