Jose Mourinho will try and tempt Robert Lewandowski to spurn Bayern Munich's advances and join him at Chelsea if he returns to Stamford Bridge.

Reports in Spain have claimed that Mourinho rang Dortmund striker Lewandowski's agent Maik Barthel urging him to push the player towards Chelsea.

The report in La Información, says Barthel called Bayern vice-president Karl-Heinz Rummenigge to alert him to Mourinho's interest while a report in Germany's Bild says Mourinho texted Lewandowski to post his admiration.

The striker's prolific form has made him one of the most sought-after players in Europe.

Manchester United are already trying to exploit the bitter rivalry between Bayern Munich and Dortmund by making a £25million swoop for the Pole.

Sir Alex Ferguson, who has trailed Lewandowski for 18 months, says he has new hope of getting his man, who scored four goals against Real Madrid in the Champions League.

United always feared Lewandowski, who has a year left on his deal, would end up at Bayern and reports, since denied, have hinted he had signed a pre-contract agreement.
