Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is unlikely to have a case to answer over a claim of using sexist and abusive language towards first-team doctor Eva Carneiro, Press Association Sport understands.
The Football Association has received a complaint against the Chelsea boss, which it is taking seriously.
But prior investigation into the incident in question has shown Mourinho is likely to avoid a reprimand, unless new evidence comes to light. There is no indication that is the case.
The 52-year-old was upset with Carneiro and head physiotherapist Jon Fearn for entering the field of play during the Premier League champions' opening 2-2 draw with Swansea last month.
The Portuguese boss, who was critical of the pair afterwards, is thought to have said "filho da puta", which translates as "son of a bitch", on the touchline in footage which was swiftly uploaded to the internet.
It is understood the complaint received by the FA claims Mourinho said "filha da puta", which translates as "daughter of a whore".
The complainant was implying Mourinho was referring to Carneiro directly after she followed Fearn on to the field to treat Eden Hazard, but the comment has already been examined.
Chelsea had already had Thibaut Courtois sent off and Mourinho was frustrated to be reduced to nine men as any player receiving treatment has to leave the field of play before returning.
Meanwhile, reports of Carneiro and Fearn returning to the Chelsea bench are believed to be premature.
Chelsea will not comment on an internal staffing matter, but Carneiro has not reported for duty since her reprimand, while Fearn has continued to work.
The Blues play Arsenal at Stamford Bridge on Saturday and it is expected the staff on the bench will be unchanged.
