John Terry has warned Chelsea's next generation there is life in the Blues' old-guard yet.[LNB]New manager Andre Villas-Boas' only confirmed signings since his arrival are Genk goalkeeper Thibaut Coutois and midfielder Oriol Romeu from Barcelona - both 19 - while pending capture Romelu Lukaku is just 18.[LNB]Key members of the Blues squad including Terry, Frank Lampard, Didier Drogba and Ashley Cole are into their 30s and Villas-Boas is showing a readiness to lower his side's average age.[LNB] The old guard: John Terry, Didier Drogba and Florent Malouda are all over 30[LNB]But Terry said: 'I know there's this feeling out there that players like myself, Lampard, Didier and Pete [Cech] - the players that have been there for a long time - take our place in the team for granted.[LNB]'But it's the complete opposite. We are the ones day-in day-out who dig deep, getting everyone together making sure we are setting the example.[LNB]'When we play a five-a-side, it's the players like me, Didier, Lampard and Ash who care and say: "It's not okay to lose 3-0 in training."[LNB] Young pretender: Romelu Lukaku has joined Chelsea at the age of just 19[LNB]'So when people say: "We've been here a long time, we don't really care" - it's the complete opposite.' [LNB]Villas-Boas will hold his first Barclays Premier League press conference at the club's Cobham HQ before the trip to Stoke. Whether the Portuguese proves to be as outspoken as Chelsea's previous Portuguese manager remains to be seen.[LNB] Point to prove: Andre Villas-Boas faces continued comparisons with Jose Mourinho[LNB]But Terry admitted: 'Every manager at Chelsea is compared to Jose [Mourinho], even more so now because the new manager worked under Jose.[LNB]'And I think it's a bit unfair to him. Clearly he has learned from Jose and there are certain things where you think that is very Mourinho-esque.[LNB]'But we have to pay him respect and realised what he achieved at Porto. I know the Portuguese lads spoke to some of the Porto players and they spoke very highly of him so he deserves our respect.'  [LNB] CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR OUR FREE FANTASY FOOTBALL GAMEI feared Drogba had broken my leg in horror tackle, says KayalRoma and Newcastle ready to offer midfielder Benayoun an escape route from ChelseaI've got the Blues!
