John Terry transsexual lookalike internet frenzy

The report told the story of Lucy Smith[LNB], a "pre-op male-to-female transsexual" who was protesting against a poster that warned women, "If you drink like a man you might end up looking like one."[LNB]Smith's reaction appears to have been prophetic. 'They have these pictures that stand out a mile and people will see it and start pointing and making comments and laughing,' she said. [LNB]The Guardian's article and accompanying photo, taken at a local bus-stop, were soon 'out there'. Football forums were noting Smith's passing resemblance to a certain England captain. [LNB]One fan posted: "The pressure of the title race has really got to John Terry." [LNB]A Swindon Town supporter wrote on another site: "I applaud John Terry for his bravery in going public with this. For someone so high profile in the macho world of football, it can't be easy for him." [LNB]Terry needn't worry too much about the reception from Hull City fans that awaits him this weekend. Team-mate Frank Lampard survived after last year being "outed" as a part-time cheerleader[LNB]in another online lookalike funny that was briefly flavour of the month. [LNB]If nothing else, the tale will give Chelsea's new recruit Ricardo Quaresma an insight into English football banter. The on-loan Inter Milan winger was Luiz Felipe Scolari's sole January signing and looks set to make his debut at Stamford Bridge on Saturday by which time his team-mates' Blackberries will be armed with the Gazette's now infamous photo.
