Terry spurned Manchester City's advances last week after publicly committing his future to the club. And Chelsea look set to reward Terry with an improved £151,000 a week contract, according to the Times. The deal will mean that Chelsea will enjoy the services of the club's two most popular figures for the rest of their careers after Frank Lampard signed a five-year contract last year. During their recent tour to the US, Carlo Ancelotti upped the ante in his praise of Terry, hailing the captain as Chelsea's 'most important' player after the defender finally announced that he would be staying at the club. Ancelotti said: 'Terry is the most important player at the team, not only for the other players but as a man and for his professionalism. "We are very happy to have him here, not only me but all the club is happy." Terry said this week that he won't be using his influence at Stamford Bridge to pressure Ancelotti into making big-money buys. Recent reports suggested Terry demanded assurances that Chelsea were still committed to signing high-profile players before he decided to spurn Manchester City's advances last month. He said: "I want to clear something up. I'm a player and it's the manager and board who make those decisions. "The only thing I spoke about with the club was it was important people like Didier Drogba and Ashley Cole, whose contracts are up now, stay with us."
