The England captain will earn close to £39million over five years when he finalises terms on a deal that is worth an estimated £150,000 per week. [LNB]Terry's salary will be the highest yet paid to an English footballer and will make him the second-best paid player in the Premier League behind Robinho, of Manchester City. [LNB]Chelsea fly to Dallas hoping for swift end to John Terry soap operaTerry is 29 in December so the new contract will take him up to nearly his 34th birthday. Over the summer, Terry was a high-profile transfer target of Manchester City, with the club prepared to offer him a £200,000-a-week, five-year deal to move to Eastlands. [LNB]Chelsea, however, rejected City's £30 million bid for Terry and, after being given assurances by owner Roman Abramovich about the club's ambition, Terry committed himself publicly to staying. [LNB]While Chelsea insist that they were always going to look to renegotiate Terry's contract at some stage it is hard not to see the new deal as a direct reward for his snubbing of City. [LNB]One source suggested that Terry's old contract, which had three years left to run and was worth £135,000 per week, has been torn up and a completely new deal agreed.
