John Terry: I never gave up hope of being England captain again after Fabio sacked me

John Terry always hoped that he would one day be restored as England captain.The Chelsea skipper was at the weekend confirmed as captain of his country for a third time and is set to lead the team against Wales on Saturday.[LNB]Terry, who was stripped of the armband in February last year following allegations he had an affair with the former girlfriend of ex-team-mate Wayne Bridge, said in The Sun: [LNB]'I've always done whatever the manager needs of me to make sure we win. I moved on very quickly from the decision about losing the captaincy and I've never fallen out with the manager.[LNB] Restored: Fabio Capello has reappointed John Terry as England captain after 13 months in the cold[LNB]'But I've never given up hope that I will captain England again.'[LNB]Terry revealed boss Fabio Capello has been impressed with his reaction to being axed as skipper, and insists he has always maintained respect for the Italian.[LNB]'When the manager told me in that meeting at Wembley that I was losing the job I accepted and respected his decision - even though I did not necessarily agree with it - shook his hand and his assistant Franco Baldini's hand and told them I'd always give 100 per cent,' Terry added.[LNB]'The manager said he really appreciated that and hoped that would be the case.'[LNB]He added: 'Anyone who ever asks me about Fabio, I can only say good words about him and that's the truth, regardless of what people might hear.[LNB]'People look at what's happened between us and think there must be trouble but there isn't. There's no problem, really. I've got nothing but respect for him. Hopefully, that's the same the other way.[LNB]Fabio has been great. I've got to give him loads of credit for that. When he came in, tactically he was spot on in and around the place. I was really impressed with him, I genuinely was.
