John Terry: Don't write Chelsea off... we are not finished like Liverpool
John Terry may at last be free of the pain in his right leg caused by a nerve problem, but he still hurts when Chelsea are beaten. [LNB]When they lose four out of eight, it gets a whole lot worse, and the captain admits the Barclays Premier League champions are in danger of surrendering the title if they cannot halt their slide. [LNB]'We went three years without winning the Premier League and we got it back last season,' said Terry. [LNB] Nerves of steel: Terry's eyes are on the title[LNB]'The celebration after that, the feeling of winning and getting our hands on that trophy, was unbelievable. It was like the first time we'd won it. [LNB]'The players realise if we don't start winning again soon, we're going to be giving it away to ManchesterUnited, who are not playing well, or to Arsenal, who are not playing well. [LNB]'I don't think any team can say they are playing well. The good thing is we're not like Liverpool. We're not out of it. We're still in with a very good chance and we certainly have the ability and the players to go to places like Tottenham or Arsenal and get great wins like we've done in previous years.' [LNB]Chelsea are locked in their worst runof Premier League form for more than a decade: five points, three goalsand one clean sheet in the last six games. They could be fourth by Sunday's derby with Tottenham, which is followed by games against Manchester United and Arsenal in a set that could make or break their title defence and boss Carlo Ancelotti's future. [LNB]'There's no chance we will fold,' said Terry. 'I certainly won't, the manager won't and we have big characters like Didier Drogba and Florent Malouda. It's time for us all to stand up. [LNB] Stand up: Terry has urged Chelsea's stars like Drogba to get the club back on song[LNB]'It's about listening to each other because we have a lot of experience in the dressing room and I'm sure someone can come up with something to get us out of this hole.' [LNB]Not so long ago, Tottenham's home wasdubbed 'Three Point Lane' by gloating Chelsea fans, but it is five years since they won there in the Premier League and this game comes with added pressure. [LNB]'Hopefully this game will end our blip and we can continue from there,' said Terry. 'If we don't, the other teams are going to pull away. [LNB]Enlarge 'A couple of weeks ago, we were seven points clear, 20 goals ahead of most teams and now we're trailing. [LNB]'We can change things. It's not a crisis at the moment. It's in our hands. We are still in with a very good shout. These are obviously tough games but we have big players hereand hopefully they're prepared to rise to the challenge. [LNB]'We've not suffered a blip like this in probably 11 years and it's hard to take. We aren't playing well at the moment but the more worried and stressed you get about things, then the harder it becomes.' [LNB]After a month out, 30-year-old Terry returned for the draw with Everton last weekend and played in Wednesday's defeat in Marseille. The French champions dominated possession and Drogba's pass completion was just 43 per cent. He attempted 23 passes in just over an hour and only 10 of them found theirtarget. [LNB]Chelsea will need their big hitters to revive the campaign, but the team's best passer in the Stade Velodrome was 17-year-old Josh McEachran, who completed 88 per cent of his 53 passes. [LNB]'There's no point pointing the finger,' said Terry. 'We have all not done as well as we did earlier in the season. We are not going to dig each other out. [LNB]'We have to get back to basics and look at what we were doing earlier in the season, playing with no fear, with confidence, getting at teams, having shots on goal, putting crossesin the box. The tactics haven't changed, the players haven't changed.' [LNB]Keep the faith: With boss Carlo Ancelotti under pressure, Terry insists it is not right to point the finger of blame at anyone[LNB]'Frank Lampard has been out for a couple of months and we are looking forward to getting him back. That would be a big boost for us.' [LNB]At least Terry's return has brought some cheer to Stamford Bridge. 'I'm having no pain,' said Chelsea's skipper. [LNB]'I'm seeing the specialist once a week to maintain it and I'm doing some work in the gym. [LNB]'I'd seen people all over the world and no-one had given me the cause of the problem or the solution. I've now seen a guy in London who's very good and he sorted both.
