John Terry backed in racism row but Capello plans to axe him for Spain clash
John Terry is unlikely to lead England out against world champions Spain at Wembley on Saturday even though manager Fabio Capello will include him in his squad. But while Terry will on Sunday be named in the squad to face Spain and Sweden, at Wembley three days later, Capello says he wants to rest his captain and experiment with different players. The statement is understood to contain 17 points and to contradict Terry's account of what happened in the QPR game two weeks ago. Capello told Terry he is unlikely to play against Spain because the England manager wants to try younger, less experienced players. But it is planned that Terry will play one half against Sweden. [LNB]Capello said on Saturday: 'We had a meeting with the FA on Friday. We spoke about John Terry. I think he is innocent until proven guilty. For this reason, I selected him. [LNB]'On Friday I told him I don't know if he will play [against Spain] because I want to see new players and he was happy. If he does not play, it is only for football reasons. I want to see [Joleon] Lescott, [Gary] Cahill and [Phil] Jagielka play at the top levels.'
