Joe Cole's new contract a priority for Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti

Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti is determined to get Joe Cole to sign a new contract at Stamford Bridge.   The Blues are determined to secure the futures of their star names following FIFA's transfer ban and Cole is next on the list. The club have appealed the decision to ban them from making transfers during the next two windows over the Gael Kakuta affair but Ancelotti is refusing to leave anything to chance. Defender Alex signed a new four-year deal earlier this month while striker Salomon Kalou put pen to paper on a new three-year contract. John Terry, Ashley Cole, Didier Drogba and Michael Mancienne have already signed extended deals to stay in London. England midfielder Cole is out of contract at the end of the season and Ancelotti said: 'We want to maintain the squad because that will ensure it stays very competitive. We need these players for the future. We may make one or two changes in the summer.'
