Ivory Coast captain Didier Drogba sat out training as he faces a race to be fit for the Elephants' opening game against Portugal on Tuesday.
The Chelsea striker, who broke his right arm in a friendly against Japan last Saturday, had trained for the previous two days wearing a cast.
'Didier is back in the hands of the doctors but that doesn't mean anything,' said a team spokesman.
He added that coach Sven Goran Eriksson will leave it until the last possible moment before deciding whether his skipper can line up against Portugal in Port Elizabeth.
