Inter abandon interest in duo

Internazionale have abandoned their efforts to sign Chelsea's Portuguese duo Ricardo Carvalho and Deco.

Former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho was interested in taking defender Carvalho and midfielder Deco to Italy after both players expressed an interest in leaving Stamford Bridge.

However, the Italian champions insist the price for the unsettled duo is too high following preliminary discussions with the Blues hierarchy.

"Having had the fortune of being able to speak directly with Chelsea, we know that they are ready to negotiate over these two player, but the asking price is too high," said a club spokesperson.

"The deal is not as simple as it might seem. It's unrealistic for us in the current conditions.

"At the moment the deal is closed and we don't know if it will open up again later on."
