Chelsea have been relatively quite where transfers are concerned and last season did the majority of their summer business early with some superb deals. This summer looks like it could go the same way with Mauro Icardi a Chelsea target to take him away from the San Siro.

The Blues have been watching his progress for the past 18 month according to reports with negotiations ongoing for a £22million summer move. The suggestion that the player is also negotiating a new deal with Inter are thought to be of no consequence according to the report with the source confident that a deal is still likely to be done.

The 22-year-old who moved to Inter from Sampdoria has made 54 appearances and scored 28 goals since 2013 and is widely regarded as one of the most exciting young strikers in Europe.

Famously educated at the Barca academy as a youth between 2008-2011 when he made the decision to move on to Sampdoria, a decision he asserts was the right one.

Icardi has made just the one senior international appearance for Argentina after stating his desire to play for his nation of birth despite having moved to the Canary Islands when he was 6.
