Manchester City manager Mark Hughes is continuing his pursuit of Emmanuel Adebayor and has reiterated he is in the market for defensive reinforcements. It is reported that Arsenal striker Adebayor is currently mulling over a move to Eastlands after having a work permit granted ahead of the reported £25million switch. Chelsea captain John Terry is also a target of City, although the Blues have stressed that the England centre-back is not for sale at any price. "We do need new players," Hughes told the Gulf News during a promotional visit to Abu Dhabi. "We are still in discussions (over Adebayor) and the talks will continue. Problems"We have got attacking-minded players but we are looking to bring other players to the club before the transfer window closes. "We are also looking to strengthen the defence. Every transfer deal is difficult and has different problems. "There are areas which we need to address but we are happy with our progress." Meanwhile, City midfielder Stephen Ireland has revelled in City's new summer additions, expressing his joy at playing alongside the likes of Roque Santa Cruz, Gareth Barry, Carlos Tevez and Stuart Taylor. DreamHe said on Sky Sports News: "I have been here for eight years now and every year it is getting bigger and better. "To be able to play with players like this is practically a dream come true. I never saw myself playing with players like this. It is amazing. "I am really looking forward to the season. It will be really interesting to see the starting line-up for the first game of the season. "It is great to have a squad like this."
