Hiddink urges UEFA to go easy on Drogba - but striker could still leave Chelsea in the summer

Guus Hiddink today pleaded with UEFA not to punish Didier Drogba too severely following his actions against Barcelona on Wednesday night - but stopped short of confirming if the Ivory Coast striker has a future with Chelsea beyond this season. Drogba has again been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge in the summer, after Blues owner Roman Abramovich and the club's directors were reportedly furious with his post-match verbal assault on Norwegian referee Tom Henning Ovrebo. But when asked if the striker will be staying next season, Hiddink said: 'That is not up to me, to be honest.' UEFA will decide next week whether to punish Chelsea and some of their stars over the ugly scenes at the end of their 1-1 draw with the Catalans. Drogba, along with Michael Ballack, could be charged for the abuse they gave Ovrebo after he turned down four penalty appeals from the Blues. Jose Bosingwa is also in the spotlight after labelling the official a 'thief' on Portuguese television while Chelsea could be charged with failing to control their players after the Blues besieged Ovrebo.
