Chelsea's hopes of landing Guus Hiddink as technical director have been hit by the Dutchman insisting he wants to remain as a coach. [LNB]The Russia boss turned down an approach from Manchester City to replace Mark Hughes and Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti is open to working alongside Hiddink at Stamford Bridge. [LNB]However, the 62-year-old is reluctant to give up training ground duties and has refused to consider any offer until a new president of the Russian FA is elected in early February. [LNB] One of the lads: Guus Hiddink led Chelsea to FA Cup glory last season [LNB]But his chances of signing a two-year extension in his current jobhave taken a blow by Roman Abramovich's right-hand man Sergei Kapkovruling himself out of the running. [LNB]Kapkov is the head of Chelsea owner Abramovich's National Academy of Football, which pays Hiddink's salary. [LNB]It had been widely expected in Russia that Hiddink would stay on forEuro 2012 qualifiers if Kapkov took over from the outgoing Vitali Mutkoand it had even been mooted that a job share with Chelsea could bepossible. [LNB]Managerial role: Hiddink wants to remain as a coach[LNB][LNB]Hiddink last month said a strategic technical-director role wouldinterest him, but now sees things differently after overcoming thedepression he felt at Russia's failure to qualify for the World Cup. [LNB]'This month I realised that I'm still hungry for football and want to continue coaching,' he said. [LNB]'Time passes and you realise that you can't forever scold yourself for errors. Life doesn't stand still. [LNB]'I will soon go on holiday, leaving with the though that defeat is as much a part of sport as victory.' [LNB]Hiddink has suffered a fractious relationship with the Russian FAand has often been disappointed by the lack of progress in improvingthe country's football infrastructure. [LNB]He sees February's elections as a change to be more ambitious, but may be disappointed at it's decision. [LNB]Kapkov revealed the NAF would be prepared to continue payingHiddink's salary, but said: 'People have asked me not to run (forpresident). I respect them and therefore I will not run. [LNB]'All our projects are in place. Hiddink has already been paid for November and will be paid in the near future for December. [LNB]'Then we'll see. When Guus went to work at Chelsea we agreed withMutko that we would finance Hiddink's contract for the cycle of histime with Russia. If required, we will continue to fund the contract.'[LNB] Hammer blow for Zola as old club Chelsea lead the chase for freebie ToniPICTURE SPECIAL: Happy Hammers Perry and Brand watch West Ham hold ChelseaCapello fury as England and Chelsea captain John Terry is hit by another controversyChelsea, Real Madrid and AC Milan in battle for Anderlecht wonderkid LukakuCHELSEA FC
