Hiddink happy to crash the party
Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink insists his side are still fighting for the Premier League title after raining on Alan Shearer's parade at Newcastle United.[LNB] The Blues gatecrashed the party at St James' Park, where Magpies legend Shearer was taking charge for the first match of his eight-game tenure, with a hard-fought 2-0 victory.[LNB]Frank Lampard and Florent Malouda netted in the second half to wrap up the win, which moved Chelsea one point behind leaders Manchester United, who host Aston Villa on Sunday.[LNB]And Hiddink - who, like Shearer, is in his job until the end of the season - was pleased with the attitude of his squad. [LNB]Energy"We knew beforehand that the arrival of Alan Shearer would give a lot of energy, not just to the team but also to the crowd," the Dutchman told Sky Sports.[LNB]"And I think the boys handled it very well. We knew that if we played a decent and fast game, the opposition would get fatigued and we could strike."[LNB]He added regarding the race for silverware: "It is good. As long as we can reach it, we will fight for it."[LNB]And Hiddink also had special praise for the impressive Lampard, who ran the midfield after the interval.[LNB]"You know with Frank that he is very important for Chelsea, not only for his work-rate but also for being effective," he concluded.[LNB]
