HATCHET MAN: The behaviour of Drogba and Ballack was simply disgraceful

07 May 2009 09:23
Of all the things that happened at Stamford Bridge in Chelsea's 1-1 draw with Barcelona last night, the behaviour of Didier Drogba and Michael Ballack was the worst.Their reactions to referee Tom Henning Ovrebo were disgraceful. Two experienced players they may be, but they couldn't have acted much more unprofessionally if they had tried. The official was virtually manhandled by Ballack after denying one decision as the German reworked the Old Trafford incident between Martin Keown and Ruud van Nistelrooy.[LNB] [LNB]Disgraceful: Didier Drogba confronts referee Tom Henning Ovrebo after their Champions League semi-final defeat at Stamford Bridge, while (below) Michael Ballack screams at the official[LNB] Then he was abused by Drogba at the end of the match and the pair acted like spoiled brats who had not got their way.Never mind that the referee's mistakes had led to Chelsea's crushing elimination from the Champions League, their behaviour was unforgivable.[LNB]   More from Hatchet Man... HATCHET MAN: Allardyce will have to stay quiet if he decides to sign Barton07/05/09 HATCHET MAN: Watch out Wayne, your anger might just backfire on you once again07/05/09 HATCHET MAN: Sorry Milner, moving up one place is not a great success for Villa07/05/09 HATCHET MAN: Gerrard is deluded if he thinks Liverpool are too good not to win the title07/05/09 HATCHET MAN: Drogba is daft to big up the likes of Malouda, Ballack and Essien - Barcelona have nothing to fear from them06/05/09 HATCHET MAN: Barca coach insists he'll give a Pep talk and not moan if Chelsea beat them - yeah, right...06/05/09 HATCHET MAN: So Moyes thinks Baines is better than Cole and Bridge...What at? Scrabble? 06/05/09 HATCHET MAN: Fletcher's red card is hardly a tragedy because replacement Paul Scholes is a better player06/05/09 VIEW FULL ARCHIVE They knew they could not change anything, they must have known what they were doing was wrong and yet they pursued the injustices against them as if bullying could put things right. With hints from the Chelsea camp of some sort of conspiracy against an all-English final the semi-final second leg at Stamford Bridge has again left the game in the gutter. They could have taken the moral high ground, they had deserved to make the Rome showpiece against Manchester United after all.But instead they may have laid the groundwork for the sort of reaction from fans which led to Anders Frisk quitting the game when he made a decision Chelsea didn't like four years ago.[LNB] [LNB]
