HATCHET MAN: Cudicini should have stayed at Chelsea instead of setting a new benchmark at Spurs

Carlo Cudicini must be kicking himself now that he left Chelsea for Tottenham. [LNB]The Italian, who sat in the shadows of Petr Cech for so long, would surely be given a chance at Stamford Bridge if he was still there. [LNB][LNB][LNB] Special reserve: Cudicini is yet to enjoy a lengthy run in the first team[LNB]Instead, as Cech's reputation plummets with every cross and free-kick he misjudges, Cudicini is sitting on the bench again down the road. [LNB]He is still a good shot stopper but his command of the penalty area leaves a lot to be desired. [LNB]You could say the same of Cudicini, but had the Italian decided to stay in January Guus Hiddink would have been almost obliged to give him a go. [LNB]If Hilario was not the third choice goalkeeper he was signed to be, he would probably have been given a chance by now too. [LNB]Cech will come good again, his slip is bound to be temporary, but this stage of the season is not the time to help him through his slide in form. [LNB]It has taken a while to reach today's low, some say he has never been the same since his horrendous head injury at Reading in 2006, but with every error carrying a potentially huge cost, keeping the faith is a huge gamble. [LNB]Unfortunately for Hiddink - and Cudicini - the stand-in manager hasn't got any choice.  [LNB]
