Harry Redknapp reveals he will contact Joe Cole after the World Cup in bid to sign him for Spurs

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp is confident he will link up with his former West Ham protege Joe Cole once again despite last week insisting he had no chance of snapping up the 28-year-old. Tottenham target: Joe Cole will return from the World Cup to talks with Harry Redknapp Redknapp is looking to boost his squad ahead of their first-ever Champions League campaign and is a long-time admirer of Cole who looks set to leave Chelsea for free this summer after seven years at Stamford Bridge. And he revealed: 'Yes, I am prepared to declare my interest in Joe Cole. Why not? He is a great player, his contract is up and he is on a free transfer. 'When he returns from the World Cup I would love to talk to him about coming to Spurs.' Redknapp initially wrote off any hopes he had of signing a player he managed at Upton Park for three years until 2001 when revealing: 'Someone's going to make a great free transfer, if he doesn't stay at Chelsea - I genuinely don't know who that is. I don't think it's going to be Tottenham. 'I've got a feeling, I may be wrong, that he's already agreed a deal with someone. I'm not saying if he hadn't agreed a deal with someone and he was available and didn't stay at Chelsea that we wouldn't be interested. 'I'm a big fan of Joe's, but the feedback we've had is that he might well have already done something.' The way we were: Harry Redknapp with the teenage Joe Cole at West Ham Liverpool and Manchester United were the early front runners to sign the England midfielder but recent reports suggest Arsenal have emerged as favourites. Redknapp is also believed to be interested in signing Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor and is ready to offer Robbie Keane and £10m in cash for the 23-year-old who has netted 51 goals in 175 games for the Villans.  Arsenal boss Wenger to beat Man City in race for Chelsea midfielder ColeSpurs move for Huntelaar on hold as Milan plan to offload striker to JuveJoe Cole tells Fabio: I'm fittest Chelsea player so pick me for World Cup!WORLD CUP 2010: Jermain Defoe fears his goals might not get him a place in opener against USEngland 3 Platinum Stars 0: Fabio cracks his whip after tame offeringTottenham are back in the hunt for FalcaoMan City turn attention to Toulouse star Sissoko after Spurs step asideJoe Cole said no to us but we'll chase Henry and Beckham, says SullivanTOTTENHAM HOTSPUR FC
