Kenny Dalglish saluted a scoring debut for ?22.8million signing Luis Suarez as Liverpool began to forget Fernando Torres. [LNB]The former Ajax striker, a 63rd-minute substitute, finished off a 2-0 win over Stoke by rounding keeper Asmir Begovic and rolling the ball towards an empty net. [LNB]Defender Andy Wilkinson helped it over the line, but Dalglish gave the goal to Suarez on a night which also saw debut goals for Robbie Keane for West Ham and Daniel Sturridge for Bolton. Luis Suarez scored on his debut to seal Liverpool's win over Stoke[LNB]Dalglish said: 'I was delighted for Luis. He hasn't even had the opportunity to train with us yet. He got his work permit yesterday and was straight in the squad. [LNB]'I think we'll see him improve even more when he starts training with the rest of the lads. He's got a big smile on his face, but he's that sort of lad. He's a happy guy and a good guy.'[LNB] Suarez had not played since December 8 after being banned for seven games for biting an opponent when playing for Ajax. [LNB]Dalglish added: 'We were never going to put any time scale on his fitness. He'll be fit when he's ready, but he's not doing too bad as it is. [LNB]'Was it Luis' goal? Well, I gave it him! It was going in, wasn't it? He can have the first goal as well, as far as I'm concerned. It's great to score on your debut, and I thought he and Dirk Kuyt linked up really well.' [LNB]Carroll received an ovation when paraded in front of the Kop before kick-off, and Dalglish said: 'It's going to be a few weeks before he's fit, but we didn't buy him for a few weeks. We bought him for five-and-a-half years.' [LNB]The former Liverpool striker said: 'Torres is simply a mercenary who has gone for a huge pay rise 'Liverpool fans stuck by him this season. They made excuses for his poor performances, about his injuries still affecting him. But all the time Torres appeared to be taking the club and the fans for a ride. [LNB]'Once he had put in a transfer request Liverpool were right to let him go. Torres talked about how much it meant to him to be a Liverpool player. He seemed to embrace Liverpool's values but now we know he didn't mean it.'
