Gunning for Benteke

Blues running out of world-class options

Well, its not yet official but we just may have lost yet another potential striker in Cavani to PSG.I have repeatedly harped on this striker issue and now am officially sick of it. If Cavani does not have the sense or is too overcome by greed to see that we offer a better sporting project then he is not a player I will shed a tear over us missing. With world-class strikers opting for other clubs, perhpas Chelsea will be forced tlook closer to home.

How about Christian Benteke.?

For me that would be wonderful news.

The Belgium hit man has  spent a season in the Premier League and was largely impressive at Aston Villa, in a team that spent the season flirting with relegation. He scored a commendable 19 goals. At just 22, he not only fits our current youth policy but also boasts a playing style that manager Jose Mourinho loves. For me, Cavani, like Falcao is dead and gone and Benteke,  if the reports are to be believed represents a better all-round bargain if viewed from the financial and age angle.

At 22, there is enough time for Mourinho  to make him a better striker than Cavani and the prospect of Torres , Lukaku  or Benteke  leading the line next season fills me with renewed hope.
