Chelsea manager Avram Grant believes that his side are beginning to take on board new tactics, having watched the Blues see off Schalke 2-0 at Stamford Bridge in the Champions League.
Goals from Florent Malouda and Didier Drogba kept Grant's side in charge of Group B and the Israeli is content that a change of emphasis from previous boss Jose Mourinho is taking shape.
Grant commented: "We can play better, but we played positive, good football and scored two goals and could have scored more.
"We are in first place in the group table with seven points, so you can't ask for any more at this stage.
"I respect other clubs, but we are not taking an example from other teams, we want to play our game. We are going step-by-step, Arsene Wenger at Arsenal said it took him more than one year and I think we have done well in a short time.
"It is not that it wasn't good in the past, but we are trying to change it and do something else. The past is the past, but I respect the past.
"But we are on the way to playing the game I want. Every game is an improvement. We always want to be better, but we are playing well at the moment and winning games.
"Arsenal play their football, Manchester United play their football and we want to play ours. We are not taking examples from other teams.
"We want to play as we want to play. It will be positive, good football most of the time. That is what is important."
