Gordon Taylor on PFA Young Player of the Year nominee: Daniel Sturridge

17 April 2012 11:06
"Owen Coyle, besides being a good manager and a good person, seems to have some really good contacts in the game. When you think of the quality of players he has had on loan - he has got one now [Ryo Miyaichi] from Arsenal and has had Jack Wilshere and Daniel.

Daniel just looked the business and I think it gave him the confidence to do well. He showed he could do well in the top division and then went back to Chelsea. He has had an excellent season. It was always felt he was a good player and it was a bit or a surprise when he was allowed to leave Manchester City. I am hoping he is another one - not just for the future - but the present as well. You can play him on the flank or down the middle. Without any shadow of a doubt, if he continues to develop the way he has, Chelsea should be well pleased and England should be well pleased.

"To have played that number of games is testament to his ability. In a number of games this season I've felt he's been one of the best players in their team."
