Goodbye Torres... Chelsea targeting Falcao or Cavani

Like me, I am sure you are sick of all the tabloid transfer rumours this time of year as we approach the January window. Well, here is some transfer gossip that will materialize into reality in January: Chelsea is about to make another expensive attempt to solve their offensive problems.

Chelsea’s top league goal scorer at the moment is Belgian midfielder, Eden Hazard, with six goals. That is two more than the total of current strikers Fernando Torres, Demba Ba, Samuel Eto’o; a statistic that may cost the Blues dearly if not rectified by Mourinho.

On top of Mourinho’s shopping list is current AS Monaco striker, Radamel Falcao. The Colombian is reported to be unsettled in France and is keen on moving to London in January.

The rocky relationship between Falcao and Monaco boss Claudio Ranieri has been well publicized lately, and the 27 year old, who has scored nine goals in thirteen games in Ligue 1 this season, may very well be tempted by a move to Stamford Bridge. The price tag on the Colombian is expected to be around €70 million, although it is likely that Torres may be added to this deal in part-exchange. The Spaniard clearly needs a change of scenery to re-ignite his career and Monaco may just be the ideal move for him.

If Chelsea fails in its bid for Falcao, it is believed that they are also keeping a close eye on Paris Saint-Germain striker, Edinson Cavani. The Uruguayan is reportedly very keen on a move to London in spite of his success at PSG. Chelsea failed in a bid to buy him in the summer, but this time round a more lucrative deal may be reached to secure the transfer. Expect a fee of at least €80 million if the 26 year old moves to Stamford Bridge.

There will be a new world class striker at Chelsea next month, and Torres will leave for foreign soil. You heard it here first…
