Steven Gerrard has been forced out of Liverpool's squad for their UEFA Champions League clash with Chelsea. Gerrard injured his groin last week in the 3-1 first-leg defeat at Anfield, but hopes were high that he would be in contention to make the starting line-up on Tuesday. But just before kick-off it was confirmed that he would not be included in the 18-man squad for the match at Stamford Bridge. There will now be big fears that Gerrard's injury could be worse than initially thought. Liverpool, though, are not in action this weekend as they tackle Arsenal in the Premier League next Tuesday and they will hope an extra week's rest will be enough time for Gerrard to recover from the abductor problem.
