Frank Lampard will continue his race for a starting place against Manchester United on Sunday by playing in a behind closed doors friendly at Chelsea's Surrey training headquarters on Thursday.

The two teams will be made up of a combination of first teamers and reserves with Carlo Ancelotti determined to offer Lampard every opportunity to regain match sharpness as quickly as possible.

Lampard kicked his first ball in anger since the back end of August in the 1-1 draw with Spurs on Sunday, coming off the bench for the final 12 minutes at White Hart Lane.
