Four Players That Desperately Need Moves In January

The season is now in full swing and refreshingly this year it looks to be fascinatingly open with so many clubs performing well in the premier league and no set favourite for the title. However, there are four players that need to move for the sake of their careers and could benefit many sides in the premier league.

Julio Cesar was hoping for a move away from QPR over the summer but nothing ever materialised, he is currently the back-up keeper to Rob Green and will need to start playing regularly to keep his place as the Brazilian number one. Cesar performed well last season and was tested far too many times for the fans liking who are glad to see the Hoops performing more solidly at the back this season. The Brazilian made 24 league appearances last season which did attract interest from Arsenal and Fiorentina. Cesar has hinted at a move back to his native country in January which is common for players of his age but one feels he may need to perform in a stronger division to secure his place for the World cup in 2014.

Demba Ba has struggled to make an impact at Chelsea and requires a move to reignite his career. Having watched Ba for many years now it is clear that he is a confidence player and one that thrives on playing regularly, he has been used infrequently by Mourinho this season and it is clear that the special one has him down the pecking order. Goals at West Ham and Newcastle built his reputation in England but after his poor season and a half at Chelsea this January would be a perfect time for Ba to move onto greener pastures. Arsenal were linked with the Senegalese forward but after their fantastic start and the form of Olivier Giroud they would surely be looking to sign a more prolific striker to push the Frenchman for his place.

Joleon Lescott has only featured in five of the clubs 11 league games this campaign which has seen Manuel Pellegrini opt for Javi Garcia four times playing the midfielder at centre half. It has been a familiar story in Europe for Lescott who has remained on the bench for all of City’s European fixtures so far. It has been reported that the Birmingham born defender supports Aston Villa and both them and Everton have shown some interest in the England centre half. Lescott has performed very consistently for many years now and if he is allowed to leave in January one would expect plenty of interest from several clubs in the premier league. The defender will also realise that his lack of game time will hinder his chances of making the 2014 world cup.

Fabio Coentrao has only appeared four times this season for Real Madrid twice of which he has been substituted off well before the 90th minute. Similarly to Lescott, the left-back has not played any part in Europe for Real Madrid. A move to Manchester United allegedly fell through during the summer and the out of favour full back could complete his premier league dream this January. Leighton Baines has been a target for United for a while now but they may see a deal for Coentrao more viable although Andre Villas-Boas is looking to bolster his defensive options also. However, the full back is under contract until 2017 so Madrid will be looking to recoup a substantial amount of the £25m they paid for the defender back in 2011. Coentrao isn’t going to be available on the cheap but he would definitely be a quality addition to the premier league.
