Chelsea need a new left-back, and speculation into signing Athletico Madrid’s star defender has increased as he attempts to push through a move.
Atheltico don’t want to budge on the £19million release clause, but Chelsea are only willing to pay £15million as negotiations sour. Luis has rejected any contract offer from the Spanish champions and has his heart set on joining former teammate Diego Costa.
Filipe Luis starred in Athletico’s title winning season. He also helping them overcome Chelsea with an impressive display in the Champions League semi-final. Chelsea have completed early transfer window business in signing Fabregas and Costa and will look to bolster their squad with the signing of Luis.
