Ferreira commits to Blues

Chelsea's Portugal international right-back Paulo Ferreira has signed a new five-year contract with the Stamford Bridge club.

The 29-year-old joined the Blues in the summer of 2004, following coach Jose Mourinho to England from FC Porto.

He has made 130 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea to date, with his only goal coming in the 3-1 FA Cup fifth round win over Colchester United in February 2006.

Ferreira told his club's official website: "I am delighted to commit my long-term future to Chelsea.

"The fans have made me very welcome since I have been at Chelsea and I enjoy my football here a lot.

"We have had a lot of success and I am hoping we have more over the coming years."

The dependable full-back has helped Chelsea win two Premier League titles, as well as securing two Carling Cup victories and success in last season's FA Cup.
