Fernando Torres suffered a debut from hell on Sunday. The ?50million record signing was substituted after 66 minutes as Chelsea were beaten 1-0 at home by his former club Liverpool. [LNB]Torres made no impact as Kenny Dalglish's three-man defence smothered Chelsea's ?90m strikeforce and Raul Meireles volleyed home the only goal of the game in the 69th minute. [LNB]Dalglish said: 'I don't think any oftheir forwards had a day they would be happy with. I didn't see ourgoalkeeper having too much to do. We defended brilliantly. They had oneshot on target.' [LNB] Feeling blue: Torres shows his frustration as Chelsea are beaten by Liverpool at Stamford Bridge [LNB]But Liverpool's manager refused to discuss his former star Torres, who moved to Chelsea last week, saying: 'I'm not here to talk about someone else's player.' [LNB]Dalglish danced a jig of delight down the touchline when Meireles scored but insisted the Torres transfer had not supplied extra motivation to his team.[LNB] Pure delight: Meireles is mobbed after scoring the only goal of the game at Stamford Bridge [LNB] 'Our only incentive was to get three points,' said Dalglish. 'Whatever someone else wants to do with their life, that's their choice. I came to win three points and, if Carlo Ancelotti had been playing up front, I'd still have wanted three points.' [LNB]Liverpool's fourth straight League win without conceding a goal eased them up to sixth, six points behind Chelsea in fourth. [LNB]Jamie Carragher, back yesterday after a dislocated shoulder, believes Dalglish should be given the job on a permanent basis. 'If you're asking me, I'd love him to be the manager.' [LNB]Roman Abramovich was not at Stamford Bridge to see his expensive new recruits and Ancelotti said he had no regrets about starting with Torres or altering the formation to accommodate him. [LNB]The Chelsea manager also hinted he would not change the system for the next game at Fulham. [LNB]'The problem wasn't that Torres played,' said Ancelotti. 'Liverpool defended very well. Fernando used his movement and did a good job. Give him time to adjust. I took him off because it has been a very busy week.'
