Fernando Torres: I have 50 million good reasons to repay Chelsea for putting their faith in me

Chelsea striker Fernando Torres has vowed to repay Roman Abramovich`s faith in him.[LNB]The Blues owner set a new British transfer record when he paid ?50million to take Torres from Liverpool a fortnight ago but the Spaniard did not make any instant repayments as he disappointed on his debut against his former club.[LNB]He is set to start against Fulham tonight, though, and wants to thank Abramovich for moving for him.[LNB] Rotten debut: Fernando Torres struggled against Liverpool[LNB]He told The Sun: 'As a striker I'm asked for goals so I'll pay in goals. I still haven't seen Roman Abramovich. To put so much money down for me speaks of his dreams to keep on making history.[LNB]'We want to repay him for this effort. I have to pay my debt on the pitch. It's beautiful he paid so much for me.'[LNB]Chris Baird insists the Cottagers will have no fear of Torres tonight.[LNB]The Northern Ireland left-back said: 'Torres is a great talent. He did fantastically well for Liverpool and scored a lot of goals for them," he said.[LNB]I'm just wamring up: Fernando Torres has pledged to make his ?50m fee worth the money for Chelsea[LNB]'But he has not done as well against us. He has scored just two goals against us in the Premier League.[LNB]'He's always a threat and with the talent Chelsea have got he is always going to get chances to score, but hopefully we can keep him quiet again against us.[LNB]'I was surprised to see him go to Chelsea, but not for the price. It will be weird seeing him in a blue kit.'[LNB]And despite such a poor start, Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti is confident his squad is versatile enough to incorporate Torres.[LNB]The Spain striker's debut against Liverpool was hardly a resounding success, with a 1-0 defeat compounded by a disappointing day for an attacking three of Didier Drogba, Torres and Nicolas Anelka, who played behind the front two.[LNB]There are times when Chelsea will also revert to a lone centre forward with support from both flanks, but the Italian is sure his players have enough quality to make either formation work.[LNB]'Now we have a strong squad with David Luiz and Torres. We've improved our ability and we have more power,' said Ancelotti.[LNB]'The squad was good, but now it is even better. In attack we can choose whether to play with two up front or with the Christmas tree, it depends on the game that we want to play.[LNB]'When we play with two strikers Nicolas Anelka can be in the number 10 position, in the hole, but with one striker he can play on the right.[LNB]'Florent Malouda can also play there, and we tried last year having Frank Lampard there at the beginning of the season which was not bad.[LNB]'Malouda can also play in the Christmas tree, but I don't need to think of him as a central midfielder because we have a lot of options there.'[LNB] Drogba set to be dropped for Fulham clash as Ancelotti looks to cater for ?50m TorresAbramovich targets Arsenal's chief scout after bagging Torres and LuizChelsea may live to regret snubbing new Danish sensation EriksenAbramovich targets Arsenal's chief scout after bagging Torres and LuizI'll prove I can cut it with Chelsea, vows frizzy Brazilian defender LuizReal Madrid target Chelsea sporting director Arnesen for Bernabeu roleAll the latest Chelsea news, features and opinion[LNB][LNB][LNB] [LNB][LNB]  Explore more:People: Didier Drogba, Roman Abramovich, Fernando Torres, Frank Lampard, Nicolas Anelka, Carlo Ancelotti Places: Liverpool, Spain, Northern Ireland
