Fabregas: Blues are back on track

Chelsea's title charge stuttered over the festive period but Cesc Fabregas believes they are back on track, having put the 'shock' New Year's Day defeat at Tottenham behind them.

Few expected anyone to catch the early-season pacesetters, with one bookmaker paying out on Jose Mourinho's side winning the Premier League a mere 11 matches into the campaign.

The Portuguese and his players always insisted it would not be that easy, though, and so it has proved in recent weeks, with a 1-1 draw at surprise package Southampton followed by an embarrassing start to 2015 at White Hart Lane.

The Blues were humbled 5-3 by rivals Tottenham - a surprise result Fabregas believes is now out of their system, following an FA Cup win against Watford and league triumph at home to Newcastle.

"There is never complacency at Chelsea, we just want to win every game," the Spain international told the Evening Standard. "Of course that's not possible through the season, there are many, many games.

"You can always have a bad day and things that won't go your way. But we are ready. Some of us had a little break.

"We have recovered from the Christmas schedule. It was tough but we feel that we had a few days to rest.

"Losing to Tottenham like we did was a shock, but when you watch the game again you see that every chance they had, they scored.

"It was one of those days where we hit the post, Ramires and Cesar Azpilicueta also had a chance.

"Things didn't go our way, but credit to Tottenham, they played a good game. But that's it, we are just looking to move forward now."
