Fabio Capello will make Joe Cole wait for England recall

The Chelsea midfielder is fit, after recovering from cruciate ligament damage, and in Friday his club manager Carlo Ancelotti said the 27 year-old is 'ready' for an international call-up. Capello will watch Chelsea's match at home to Liverpool on Sunday, prior to the squad announcement, but will not include Cole unless there is a spate of injuries and withdrawals over the weekend.  Related ArticlesWenger would support Walcott England selectionEriksson back on England dutyHutchinson called up to England U21sEngland to play on a TuesdayCapello won't rest players from England qualifiersMichael Owen hits the spotThe Italian has deemed it too early for Cole because he has only played one full game since January. Indeed there are not expected to be more than two or three changes to the squad that was selected for last month's matches against Slovakia and Croatia. Capello will also watch Bolton Wanderers' Gary Cahill on Saturday before deciding whether he is included although this may depend on Rio Ferdinand's fitness. As yet, no player has withdrawn from the reckoning and despite the fact that both matches are 'dead rubbers' for England Capello will want an full explanation for any player being declared unfit. Portsmouth's David James and Tottenham's Tom Huddlestone will also be considered. It's likely that Capello will start with his strongest available XI against Ukraine next Saturday partly because England's opponents, and Croatia, can still qualify for the World Cup next summer. England do not want to leave themselves open to accusations that they deliberately fielded a weakened line-up. However it does mean that two or three first-choice players may be released from the squad when England return from Dnepropetrovsk where the tie is to be played in the early hours of Sunday morning. Belarus cannot qualify for South Africa so Capello will play a weakened, more experimental side. The manager is also keen to keep his first-choice squad together as much as possible as this is the latest prolonged get-together England will have for some time.
