FA Cup final 2009: Everton's Tim Cahill confident of victory over Chelsea

The Australian, who played in the 2004 final with Millwall against Manchester United, admits he has a far different approach to three years ago when he simply went 'to enjoy the day'. Having finished fifth in the Premier League this year, Cahill has every confidence his side are capable of beating Chelsea and becoming the only Merseyside club to win a trophy this season. 'Our cup final in 2004 was really the win in the semi at Old Trafford,' he said. 'Being in the final, Ray Wilkins and Dennis Wise told us 'just enjoy the day', and that's what we did. 'But we're on a different level at Everton and we do have a realistic chance of winning. I think the biggest factor for us is believing it. "We need to believe we can win. We need to believe that once we cross that white line this is our chance of winning some silverware. 'It's one game of football. Chelsea are a very good team but as long as we have that chance we'll give everything to take it. "Hopefully this time I can go one step further. We have got to go into the game thinking that we can do it. ' Recently voted Australia's most influential sportsman over Ricky Ponting and Shane Warne, Cahill says he will be playing for his country just as much as his club when he walks out on to the Wembley pitch. Honoured by the accolade his fellow countrymen have handed him, he added: 'It's great I'm well thought of in Australia. There are a lot of kids who look up to me and I do play with my heart on my sleeve. 'I don't just do that for Everton, but for Australia too. Every game I play in I've got the whole country back home behind me. 'The FA Cup is the most prestigious in the world – something I'm passionate about as I watched it as a kid. I'm just proud to be in the situation I am in.'
